Looking at the outstretched hand, the Augment hesitated for a moment. Leaving the base was something that she hadn't done for a while, at least, not in an unofficial capacity. Taking a deep breath, she straightened her uniform, then reached out tentatively to take Jiseth's hand.

"We shall."

With a gentle squeeze of her hand, Jiseth escorted her Augment from their bedroom to the living room. Looking to Ghost, she waved happily, "We'll be back later, pup." She pulled from her pocket a small device, a transponder for the shuttle to lock-on to, and gave Zero a warm smile before hitting the button and both were bathed in a green swirling mist of particles.

[Shuttlecraft Ivaht]

Setting her backpack down by one of the bunks, Jiseth moved to the forward section of the cabin rather quickly. She wanted to minimize their time inside the small craft as much as possible. Though it was considerably bigger than most Starfleet craft, more similar to a Danube-class runabout.

"Looks like we're clear for departure... Computer, activate cloaking device."

"Aeh'lla irea'elh."

"And..." The cabin hummed as the impulse engines spooled up and a moment later the craft lifted from the hangar deck, "...we're off!"

An invisible bird in the mid-morning sun streaking through the station's starry sky, Jiseth searched the starcharts for any worlds near by with little to no populations. One hit nearly perfectly for what she wished to find: Gamma Hromi II. Setting the course, she glanced up from the controls to see the stars begin to streak by as they went to warp.

"I set the autopilot to a higher cruise speed than normal, but it won't take long to get there. Less than an hour. From what I've seen though so far from the data of the system gathered a number of years ago, it's... promising."

Zero let Jiseth lead her and then transport her to the shuttlecraft still in the hangar bay. The shuttle was quite large for the class of craft that it was, but it still felt cramped and constricting to the Augment. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, her hands gripping the strap of her medkit as she tried to keep the fears crawling up her throat at bay.

Slipping the strap off her shoulder, she set the kit down by Jiseth's pack. She made her way to the helm, stopping in the doorway that separated the cockpit from the cabin of the craft, watching how the Romulan's fingers danced over the consoles with the same skill and grace as Zero had once employed in her ballet.

"E'lev..." she asked hesitantly, as if afraid of the answer to the question she was about to ask. "If I instruct you in how to dance... will you teach me how to fly?"

Turning in her chair, bathed in the greens, blues and purples from the console, Jiseth managed to smile through her surprise. Such a small request that some how caused her heart to stop. What the hell am I going to do if she asks me to marry her-... Has she? If our child is a symbol of her love then... Oh Zero!

"Yes..." Standing from her chair she wrapped her arms around Zero's shoulders, "Yes, absolutely!"

Leaning her head against her lover's, she wanted to cry once again, but simply had run out of tears. Back to joy. The roller coaster of emotions was somewhat maddening and they had not even gotten through the morning.

"Would you show me now?"

The outpouring of emotion from the Romulan came as something of a surprise to Zero. She didn't understand how a request to learn how to fly a shuttle could be such an emotional trigger to her e'lev. She tucked that away into a corner of her mind to study later.

"Show you how to dance?" she asked, still a little afraid. It had been a long time since she had last been able to practise. She knew that her muscles would be somewhat stiff, and she didn't know how far she could push Jiseth into any of the forms.

"Yes! Well, just a little bit. I'm sure we'd need a proper space more similar to the studio in the holodeck, but... Maybe some of the basic movements? How did you start out at it?"

Pulling away slightly, she brought her forehead to Zero's. The little pressure on her ridges was rather enjoyable. Then again so was most contact with her pale companion. Quietly to herself Jiseth hoped that their distance from the station would ease then fears of Medical coming down on them. Billions of kilometers away in a ship small enough that would be difficult by even advanced senors to track. Finally they were alone together.

It wasn't easy for Zero to accept the contact, but she made the effort not to pull away. This was important. Jiseth seemed to need the closeness, the touch, so Zero would provide it for her as much as she could.

"I was reading through the cultural database, I do not remember why, but I came across a recording of a ballet performance. The Nutcracker. I was jealous of their grace, and therefore I became determined to emulate them. I created my program to help me. It originally had an instructor, but I soon found that I did not need one after a few lessons."

"You won't have to worry about feeling envious compared to me. I'm a brute with only enough grace to not lash out at every annoyance."

Jiseth smirked as she pulled away and undid her uniform jacket, moving into the cabin and placing it on a hanger in the small closet by her bunk. Pulling her shirt from being tucked down below her belt line, she next removed both her boots. It was like shaking off a great deal of confining weight, now that she was free to nearly fully move about.

"Alright, what's lesson one, e'lev?"

Following Jiseth's example, Zero pulled off her boots then, hesitating for a moment, continued on to shrug off her uniform jacket and undershirt and even her trousers, leaving her in the regulation underwear issued to Starfleet personnel. She didn't have her usual dancing attire without being on the holodeck, but she knew (from experience) that it was easier to dance naked than it was to dance in her uniform.

She took Jiseth's hands, offering her a faint smile. "The first lesson is that of foot position. One will always return to a certain few positions that must be mastered. They are, however, difficult to begin with. This is the first one." Looking down at her feet, she arranged them easily so that her heels were touching, but her toes were pointed completely out, her feet creating a single line.

Bringing her heals together as easy, as we spreading them to 45 degrees apart. The position of attention she had stood in countless times, but going beyond that point proved problematic. Her ankles felt stretched before she could fully turn them and found herself leaning back. Jiseth tugged at Zero's arms suddenly trying to regain balance. For a moment it felt as though she hand, until she fell back onto the bunk mattress with Zero face-first in her lap.

"Okay... Seems I'm in need of some more flexibility..."

Although Zero had dropped the position in order to act as a balance bar for the Romulan, Zero found herself being pulled forward by Jiseth as she fell backwards. Thankfully, the bunk was there to break their fall.

For a moment, Zero stayed frozen, her arms clasped by Jiseth's hands, her face dangerously close to the Romulan's chest. Suddenly very aware of just how little clothing she was wearing, she struggled to sit up, to get away from the compromising position they had found themselves in.

"Mmmm... I kind of like you there."

She let her Augment squirm for a bit longer before she released her hands and pushed up against her shoulders to help her back up. Here eyes went up and down Zero's figure, very much enjoying what she saw, before she removed her own shirt and trousers so that her new instructor could better see how her body was compared to what it was supposed to be doing.

Pushing her self off the edge of the bunk, Jiseth stood once more. This time she braced herself by placing her hands on Zero's shoulders before attempting again. She could make it close, 20 or so more degrees on each side, but they would not budge much farther.

"What am I doing wrong?"

Zero bolted away from Jiseth as soon as her hands were released, wrapping her arms around her midsection as she tried to breathe through the beginnings of panic that had taken over her. She looked up at Jiseth approached again, wanting to try once more.

The Augment took a deep breath, trying to settle into the role of instructor, although she was finding it a very uncomfortable position to be in, especially now that Jiseth had also shed the majority of her clothing. Looking at her Romulan's feet, she tried to figure out why Jiseth was having problems with the position.

"Perhaps it is that you lack the required flexibility," she offered. "I was designed and encouraged to maintain a high level of suppleness and it was therefore easy for me to learn. It may require more time for you."

It was proving quite difficult. Her feet simply would not budge. Years of standing rigidly still had made her feel like a wooden doll. After several minutes, she gave a sigh and looked back up at Zero, trying to maintain her balance with her feet about as wide as they would spread without being excessively uncomfortable.

"I can work on it. What's the next one?"

Zero offered as reassuring of a smile as she could to the Romulan, knowing that she was making an effort. It appeared to be very difficult for her where it hadn't been for Zero.

"This is the other major one. The others are variations in the distance between the feet." Taking a step back to make it easier to see her feet, Zero crossed her legs and, keeping her toes pointed out, moved one foot in front of the other so that they appeared to be on parallel lines, holding her arms out in a downward curve in order to maintain her balance.

Moving her feet around, Jiseth was confused briefly as to whether or not she had done it properly. Looking back and forth between their two pairs she saw that she had, but there was significantly less effort and discomfort involved. A slight sense of accomplishment appeared on her lips as a faint smile.

Her eyes drifted back up, waiting for her next set of instructions. Trying to make sure she could still balance herself was very much on her mind.

Zero couldn't help the faint expression of amusement that crossed her face as she noted the slight look of concentration on Jiseth's. She could remember seeing the same look on her own, reflected back at her in the mirrors of her studio.

"The next step requires significant balance," she warned. Taking a deep breath, keeping her feet in the same position, she flexed her knees so as to crouch, then, as she straightened up again, brought her forward foot up, maintaining the flexion of the knee, continuing to straighten until she was standing on the tips of her toes. She didn't hold the position for long though, rapidly dropping her weight back down onto a full foot.

I'm at this for ten minutes and you want me to do that...

Bringing her hands to her sides and slightly outward for balance, Jiseth tried to repeat the motions. Her arms alternated going up and down, rapidly if she felt she was losing balance. Occasionally she'd bend over suddenly to catch herself and then straighten up again to attempt again. As she neared getting on the tips of her toes, it became drastically harder. Exponentially, logarithmic, it did not matter. Her lips knotted as she pushed to get there and for the briefest of instants she was. Then it appeared that the world around her was turning on its side as she fell to the floor with a thud.

"...Yay?"

Zero smiled slightly, holding her hand out to the Romulan to help her back to her feet. While it looked easy, she had found that ballet was quite the challenging dance to master. She may have been doing it for a while herself, but even with her advanced capabilities, she had yet to come close to mastering the art.

"It requires much time and patience," she said in the hopes of reassuring the Romulan before adding in a slightly lighter tone of voice: "Also, it requires a bone knitter. I have fractured many a bone in the pursuit of this art."

"Good thing my teacher is also my doctor."

As Jiseth rose, she used her momentum to slide close to Zero, slipping her other hand around the small of her back as the one that held her lover's extended outward as she spun them both slowly.

"I know a thing or two for ballroom dancing, but I would love to see you do your routine. Would that be alright?"

Once again, Jiseth's eagerness to be close to the Augment caused Zero to tense up, but the hand on her back kept her from being able to slip away.

"I cannot perform my routine for you at this point," she said a little apologetically. "I have not been able to practise it for some time and I do not believe that there is adequate room in here." She tried to offer a smile. "I will dance for you again, but not at this moment."

"Then we'll try my kind..."

Sliding her other hand to entwine with the one already at Zero's back, Jiseth swung her hips from side to side gently with each rotating step. It was simple. Usually done when the pair wished to talk and still have a presence on the dance floor. Leisurely going around, usually clockwise.

"Remember at the restaurant? Plenty of couples doing this there. When we were on the Discovery too... What's on your mind? How do you feel?"

The Augment swallowed hard as she realised that she wasn't going to be able to get out of this very close contact form of dancing. She was a prisoner in Jiseth's arms, unable to break free without offending the Romulan. She moved stiffly, each step uncomfortable and stilted.

"I am afraid..." she admitted.

Slowing to a stop, Jiseth's eyes went to the floor and then closed. Her head bowed slightly, with the realization that this had happened several times already. The message just had not seemed to sink in yet to her dense Romulan skull. Her hands separated and drifted down to the sides of Zero's hips.

"As am I..."

Realising that she had, in fact, done that which she hadn't wanted to do, Zero wrapped her arms around her middle, stepping back from Jiseth and looking away. She was starting to wonder now if Admiral Corinth had done what he had set out to do, and rendered her incapable of maintaining any kind of relationship with anyone.

"I am sorry, e'lev. I am too... damaged for this. He has succeeded."
